SMEG'S SILVER ANNIVERSARY
Reaching one's 25th wedding anniversary is an important milestone that deserves to be properly celebrated. But what happens when the milestone is reached by a brand like Smeg and two European countries like the UK and Belgium? Well, obviously, you celebrate – twice! And in style.
The first of the two events was held in Belgium on 21st June. For the occasion, Smeg Belgium invited local VIPs, clients and employees to its Puurs headquarters. Once the delivery vans were out of the way, the outdoor party was a huge success thanks to a delicious menu and lots of surprises, including an enormous blue hot air balloon bearing the Smeg logo!
In the UK, the famous university city of Oxford was the backdrop for an exclusive roof party. The guests reached the venue on board a vintage bus, before being welcomed by Smeg UK CEO Mike Giddings and by Italian CEO Vittorio Bertazzoni. And, like any self-respecting silver wedding anniversary, the guests were in store for a treat: from musical entertainment to TV stars, through the amazing tricks from a local magician. Abracadabra!
As well as hot air balloons, music and magic, the stars of the two nights were none other than the '50s-style fridges customised for the occasion. Kids at the Belgium party were given three fridges on which to unleash their flair and painting talent; in the UK, a silver-coloured FAB28 bearing the letters Smeg 25 was signed by all guests in permanent black marker pen.
Now the celebrations are over, the next milestone to look forward to is the golden anniversary. And since the “golden fridge” has already been made, who knows what Smeg will come up with for the occasion?
