SMEG CELEBRATES SICILY IS MY LOVE
Earlier this month leading international fashion and design media and aficionados gathered at Dolce&Gabbana’s Milan headquarters for the unveiling of Sicily is my Love – the latest collaboration between Smeg and famed Italian fashion house, Dolce&Gabbana.
At the launch event, rather than beautiful models in couture walking the catwalk, the catwalk was lined with couture for the home; bespoke Sicilian market stalls with Smeg stand mixers, toasters, kettles and blenders adored with Dolce&Gabbana’s signature decorative style.
The market stalls could have come straight from Sicily with their red, blue, green and yellow gingham draping and baskets full of fresh fruit, vegetables, flowers, artisan bread and coffee.
The stage at the end of the catwalk, with styling reminiscent of a traditional Sicilian farmhouse kitchen complete with Smeg Victoria freestanding cooker and FAB by Smeg fridges, provided lively entertainment for guests.
The collection’s title, Sicily is my Love, is a tribute to Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana’s Sicilian home – the Smeg appliances are richly decorated with golden lemons, prickly pears, bright red cherries and florals inspired by the coast and landscape of that region of Italy.
This world-first collaboration celebrates two of the Smeg brand’s most enduring passions – outstanding design and good food. Smeg is the only brand to foster this ingenious fusion of ‘Made in Italy’ style, art and fashion, bringing couture level design to the home.
Australian availability of the Sicily is my Love small appliances collection – and RRPs – are not known at this time.
