SMEG news: Instructions on how to stitch together a fridge

For the tacking, take two renowned brands, two companies that share the deep sense of style, design and artistic inventiveness so typical of Italy: that je ne sais quoi, that something so difficult to put your finger on, yet so classic and the only common thread in the work of Leonardo da Vinci and De Medici, as well as Macchiavelli and Cagliostro (a little bit of craziness never goes amiss).

Take Smeg and Italia Independent, for instance. Now, careful with the measurements. The cut must be made in a classic, no wait, classicissimo style.

The fridge that typifies all fridges, stamped with the brand of fashion design that has made Italy's most successful product, dressed in the fabric of all fabrics: denim.
We're talking about the FAB 28 denim model, a very special edition limited to a run of 500. Actually, item would be a better word than model, especially for the lucky few who get to take it home and try it on for size. Denim, yes, but casual? Absolutely not. A more classy and elegant match, a deeper affinity you simply could not have.

With a needle and thread we have managed to sew together the heart and soul of Italian style with almost surgical precision.

SMEG news: The king of the third half

Want to know the truth? What people think is true about rugby is only a partial truth. When people think about rugby, they think about the violence of the game, the collisions in the scrum, the battered faces of the players and their roars of encouragement, the tackles that push the rules of the game to the limit.
What people don’t realise, however, is that once the game is over, and the pitch is left behind, and the gladiators have changed out of their kit, there is another part left of this noble sport: the all-important third half.

Here, brute strength and force is demonstrated by the grip of handshakes, the embrace of a giant friend, and the broken teeth smiles that don’t seem to be all that bad close up. Here they tackle steaks and the only fight is the fight to resist getting drunk. The third half is dedicated to the muscles of the throat, the real protagonist of the third half is, of course, the fridge. A special fridge for rugby fans. A SMEG. Two special edition FAB28’s have been created specifically and personalised with the kits of the two squads that best personify the history and the values of rugby: the English national team and the New Zealand team. And thus the most noble sport on the earth toasts the health of the most noble fridge on the earth!

SMEG news: Two Italian Jobs, two Different Actors

250 'limited-edition' 50’s inspired refrigerators recently rolled off the production line, styled with the MINI emblem, paintwork and original door handle. The bringing together of two well renowned brands was an ingenious idea and certainly went down as an instant hit. Both brands share that retro feel, the same passion for design and striking care for detail.

Anyway, the whole thing went so well that we received numerous requests from people who wanted us to help them differentiate between the two as they looked almost just alike.

So, although both products share the same badge and handle, a carton of milk and some eggs just will not fit into the side pocket of a MINI and naturally, of course, we would not want to go out for a spin in our very special fridge, now would we?

Our last word of advice on this score? Don't try to keep your fresh food shopping in the boot of a MINI for more than 10 hours.
